I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely shocking. I booked a curly blow dry through Fresha after seeing the stylist’s Instagram, which showed beautiful work. Having now experienced the service and looked more closely, I strongly suspect many of the photos used are not her own work, which I feel extremely misled by and actually feel like such a fool as it’s obvious in hindsight looking at the images. When I arrived, the salon itself was filthy and immediately felt unprofessional. During the appointment, the salon owner repeatedly interfered with the stylist doing my hair, criticising her in front of me and then physically taking over. It created a very uncomfortable atmosphere and made the whole experience feel chaotic and unprofessional. Very little heat protection was used despite the amount of heat being applied. I raised this concern several times as I have extensions that were only recently fitted and was worried about the level of heat being used. My concerns were largely dismissed and I was simply told they had been a hairdresser for many years. My hair was first blow dried straight, then re-dried again with a round brush, meaning it had already been subjected to a significant amount of heat. The result was uneven, with it barely wavy on one side and completely straight hair on the other. At that point, curling tongs were brought out to try and fix it. I clearly said that I did not want tongs used, as I had specifically booked a curly blow dry and was already concerned about the amount of heat being applied to my extensions. Despite this, I was repeatedly reassured it would be fine and the tongs were used anyway. The end result was one side loosely waved and the other side tight ringlets, with the ends of my hair looking completely frazzled. It looked nothing like the curly blow dry I had booked. To make matters worse, the condition of the ends of my extensions after this appointment is so poor that I am now having to consider replacing extensions that were only fitted two weeks earlier. When I explained how uncomfortable the entire appointment had been and pointed out that I booked a curly blow dry as I am unable to do this at home, and the methods and final result I could actually have done better myself given the use of tongs after a straight blow dry, requested a refund, I was offered £15 back on a £75 service, which I declined. Shortly afterwards the stylist removed herself from Fresha, preventing me from leaving feedback or disputing the appointment through the platform, and has ignored all communication since. Overall I felt misled by the advertising, extremely uncomfortable throughout the appointment, and very unhappy with the final result. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise others to think very carefully before booking.
