I visited MastahBetta today and bought a threadfin acara. The shop has a wide selection of fish across many species, which made it easy to find what I wanted. Tanks are large and well lit, giving fish room to swim and making it easy to inspect them before buying. The staff seem to take good care of the animals — the fish I looked at appeared healthy and active. The aquaria are nicely set up with plenty of plants and well-placed driftwood, which creates natural-looking habitats and likely helps lower stress for the fish. The planted tanks and decor also make it easier to see how different species look in a more realistic environment. Staff was cool and funny. Pushed me to get another today, and I found that respectful. My only critique is some areas could use better cleaning. Tank rims and a few surfaces showed light buildup, and a little more regular attention to those details would raise the shop’s overall presentation. It didn’t affect the health of the fish I bought, but improving cleanliness would make the place feel more professional.
Such a great experience. Rekindled my love for aquatic pets and I think I’m addicted !! Josh the owner really makes the time to show you what you will need and what will work with your individual set up. Highly recommend shopping with Mastah Bettah for your next aquatic experience.
Would recommend avoiding this place for awhile. Our first visit was fine. The second visit most of the Betta inventory was gone and there were many Bettas dead in their tanks. Most of the dead ones were dead and left for several days judging by the aquatic growth that had sprouted on them. Would recommend other stores in the area that treat their fish humanely.
Thankful to have Mastah Betta! We don’t have a fish store on Kauai, well petco but those poor fish. Mastah Betta has cool fish I cant find and shipping is cheap. Super appreciate the fast and well done shipping. This is my 3rd order and wont be my last. If you’re on Oahu, go check em out! Mahalo Mastah 🤙🤙
I bought 2 green neon tetras and 3 pygmy corys on Saturday, Nov 8th and found them all dead this morning (Monday.) I did a water change right away and hope my other fishes are going to be okay. Back on Oct 5th, I bought 4 corys from the shop and I had a massive fish death. At that time I added sand to the tank so I assume the sand wasn't clean and poisoned the water. So I cleaned, tested, and waited until the tank is completely stable before I add more fishes. Now I have my doubt, maybe the corys aren't healthy to begin with... I'm worried I am going to get another massive fish death again.😔
