We came here for dinner after reading many positive reviews, so we were quite excited to try it. Our experience was a bit mixed overall. The staff were very friendly and attentive when we arrived, and they took our drink orders promptly. I personally enjoyed the cocktails, and the starters we ordered were delicious and full of flavor. While waiting for our mains, we expected that someone might offer another round of drinks, especially as the restaurant was not particularly busy at the time. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. The mains were a little disappointing. The squid, in particular, was under-seasoned and lacked the flavor we were hoping for. That said, the experience was not bad overall. The service was friendly, the drinks were enjoyable, and the starters were excellent. We believe there is room for improvement, particularly with the main courses and attentiveness during the dining experience. One thing worth mentioning is that the restaurant’s location is perfect and adds to its appeal.

I came for lunch, and found R&H 2 course offering for $49.95 to be a good deal, as it offered dishes I was interested in at a better price. However, I was asked to choose both courses right away, accepted the waitress’ dessert recommendation and ended up getting overfed. I would rather have picked dessert after the main (or even skipped it), once I knew how filling the main was. The food was good, though. Warm, soft ciabatta with intensely garlicky butter; fresh, tasty squid on a bed of crisp salad; an indulgent coupe of ice cream with strawberries, bits of waffle and more flavoured cream. Rather straightforward culinary ideas, but well executed. More hearty than refined, which is not my usual preference, but hey, it was yum, I can’t complain. The team is friendly, the venue is rather stylish, with somewhat chaotic spatial organisation, but in a nice waterfront location. I’d happily come back when really hungry (or else would be more careful with set menu offerings).

Some of the best food you will eat in launceston. The cocktails were unreal, great selection of wines, the squid cooked perfectly and the slaw that came with the buttermilk chicken was the best we have ever had. We would have kept drinking there but the waitress didnt come back to the table for over half an hour so we left. But other then that cant fault this place.

I love this Restaurant by the river. The entire package was delivered to us tonight, from classy high end atmosphere and setting to friendly and professional service by Jamie, and amazingly fresh Seafood (chowder was top notch). This restaurant by Seaport also accompanied with a nice view and little walk to a beautiful bridge. Eating here at Sunset was super romantic. Thank you Rupert & Hound for an amazing diner experience. Will visit again.

The highlight was Lana, our waitress. She was cheerful, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations while providing us with an unforgettable customer experience. The environment was also enchanting and warm. The food was good. Jamie and the rest of the staff members were cheerful and appeared to have good teamwork and collaboration. In summary, it was a great evening.
